Secretary of State
In 1975, at the age of 42, Norma filed to run for Secretary of State. Building the conerstones of her campaign on education reform, Norma was elected as the Secretary of State for Oregon in 1976. This victory made her the first woman to hold a statewife elected office in the state of Oregon as well as the first female Secretary of State in Oregon's history. Paulus served in this position from January 3rd, 1977 through January 7th, 1985 after being re-elected to this office two consecutive times.
