- o or obv = obverse
- r, rx, or rev = reverse
- l or lt = left
- r or rt = right
- dr = draped (wearing paludamentum or form of cloak)
- c or cuir = cuirassed (the chest armor)
- laur = laureate
- rad = radiate
- ex = exergue (the bottom field of the reverse usually shown by a line)
- g or gm = grams - mm = millimeters
- BCE = Before Common Era (BC)
- CE = Common Era (AD)
- AE or aes = bronze or a variation of a copper alloy
