Requesting Materials

Because of their unique, rare or fragile nature, our collections are housed in closed stacks and are non-circulating; therefore, browsing of the stacks is not allowed. Materials must be used in the reading room and under staff supervision.

The contents of archival and manuscript collections can begit status accessed using our finding aides and by consulting with staff. All monographs housed in Archives and Special Collections are entered in Willamette University's online catalog.

Researchers who know in advance which materials they would like can email the list to archives@willamette.edu and we will have the materials ready when you arrive.

All materials from political collections must be requested a minimum of 72 hours in advance.

Willamette University Archives and Special Collections accepts research inquiries for open collections. The University Archivist reserves the right to review each request based on staff availability. It will be at the University Archivist’s discretion to complete the inquiry or refer the researcher to do additional work in person.
