WU Baseball Alumnus Featured

Baseball in Wartime, a website dedicated to baseball players who served in the military, recently featured Willamette alumnus Jim Robertson (’41), who was killed in April, 1944.

Playing for coach and Oregon Sports Hall of Fame inductee Roy “Spec” Keene, Robertson was the Bearcats’ starting catcher for four years. In 1940, he caught every inning of the team’s 22 games as they clinched the Northwest Conference championship for the first time since 1931.
